BIO5 "Know Your Neighbor" Speaker Series

To learn about research projects underway, come to the BIO5 "Know Your Neighbor" speaker series, which starts up again January 28, 2009. The presentations are from Noon to 1 pm in the BIO5 Conference Room 103, Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building. Bring your lunch and enjoy complimentary dessert, tea and coffee.

Time & Date: Jan 27, Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 17, March 3, March 10In the near future, several large-scale research projects now underway in astronomy, physics, biology, cybernetics and medicine have the potential to reshape our understanding of the universe and ourselves. Join the UA College of Science as they provide, in a six lecture series, a first-hand look forward into the workings of these far-reaching research programs and the diverse outcomes they each may offer. Six scientists will intimately describe their world-class explorations into deep space, particle physics, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, and the hidden workings of the human brain. Their insights and observations will provide a front-row seat to the epic scientific discoveries that the world may be making next. All lectures are at Centennial Hall on the UA campus and begin at 7 pm. They are free to the public.
3rd Annual Arizona Science Teacher Symposium
Time & Date: Saturday, April 18, 2008BIO5 presents, in partnership with Biosphere 2, the 3rd Annual BIO5 Arizona K-12 Science Teacher Symposium is Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Biosphere 2 in Oracle Arizona. The event offers teachers from across the state professional development workshops, speakers, Biosphere 2 tours and a science education outreach resource fair, all designed to enhance science education in Arizona. Teachers leave with hands-on, standards-based lesson plans that they can implement in their classrooms, and receive a bioscience education resource CD and eight hours of credit toward recertification.
