Mathematical Modeling and Biophysics
The University of Arizona has a long history of activities using mathematical modeling and experimental biophysics approaches to biological problems. Initiated with NSF funding in 1998, the Biology, Mathematics and Physics Initiative (BMPI) supports graduate students from many different departments and programs whose research interests reside at the interface of biology, mathematics and physics. The program offers novel interdisciplinary training modalities through a regular seminar series, workshops and a unique training laboratory. Support for trainees in this program is now provided by BIO5.
