I recently joined the U. of A community as the Vice Chair of Research for OB-GYN. I consider myself a clinical trialist and have conducted multiple randomized controlled trial. The most important contributions of my work has been to the use of antenatal corticosteroids for pregnancies at risk for preterm delivery. Prematurity prevention, optimizing outcomes, and developing evidence based strategies to reduce the burden of prematurity.
Dr Debra Guinn is a boarded OB-GYN and maternal fetal medicine specialist. She joined the faculty of University of Arizona in 2019. She is the Vice Chair of Research and the Program Director for Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has been charged to develop the infrastructure and mentor the OB GYN department to conduct large scale clinical trials and explore important data sets to improve the lives of women across the entire age spectrum and their families. Her current work includes optimizing antenatal corticosteroid use to women at risk for preterm delivery, the impact of induction of labor on maternal and neonatal outcomes, and determining the prevalence of Covid-19 in pregnant mothers and the risk of transmission to their newborns.
