Hannah Pizzato, a researcher at the U of A Health Sciences Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies, is developing a stem cell-based therapy for Type 1 diabetes. In BIO5 member Deepta Bhattacharya’s lab, she focused on overcoming immune barriers to stem cell transplantation. Now, as one of the early scientists at CAMI, Pizzato is building on that work with the goal of eventually using stem cell therapy to cure Type 1 diabetes.
