BIO5 Resources
The Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building (Keating) and Biosciences Research Laboratories (BSRL) have many space and services available to our scientists.
If you’re a researcher that works in Keating or BSRL, learn about building access, reserving conference rooms, IT and building support, and more below. A good starting point is the "How To" document linked below to learn all that BIO5 has to offer.

Building Access
The Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building houses several secure facilities and laboratories. Because of this, building access is protected.
To make changes to access, login to modify you access permissions.
Register for new access
To gain access to the Keating or BSRL buildings, you will need a biometric CatCard that has a magnetic strip across the bottom of the back of the card.
If you do not have a biometric CatCard, you must obtain one from the CatCard office before requesting access. Fingerprint enrollment can be done at the Catcard office or onsite at Keating by setting up an appointment with BIO5 materials handler Mario Marquez (marquez4@bio5.org)
There are two ways to log into the portal to request access or to modify existing access.
Employee Registration:
- NetID
- Valid University of Arizona Email Address
- Current Work Position
Visitor Registration (work with the labs they are visiting)
- Login Name
- Case Sensitive Password
- Valid Email Address
Next Steps:
- Once logged in, you must select the item(s) you are requesting access to. This is the case whether you are requesting it for the first time or adding an area to your existing permissions.
- The request will go to the approver of that area, via email. Access will be approved/denied within 24 hours of requesting it. A PIN will be required for after-hours access (5 p.m. – 8 a.m.). These can be set up at access.bio5.org, by choosing ‘Reset PIN’ in the top left corner of the page.
For questions or concerns about your access, please contact BIO5 facilities manager Robert Sandoval (rsandova@arizona.edu) or BIO5 materials handler Mario Marquez (marquez4@bio5.org).
