Aging and the Brain
With people living longer, the aging Arizona population brings challenges and opportunities to health care. The BIO5 Institute is uniquely poised to conduct both basic and clinical research on the biology of aging and age-related brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other neurological conditions.
Our critical research includes developing and testing drugs, devices, and behavioral interventions to minimize handicaps and disease.
Our scientists’ studies range from brain imaging and assessing molecular and genomic changes during aging to dietary and exercise interventions. With our partners, we have the expertise to translate basic studies into effective treatments and life-enhancing strategies, ultimately reducing costs and increasing the odds for people to live longer, healthier lives.
