Research Interest
Dr. Gomez is interested in breaching the gap between basic and clinical research; including developing and testing biomarkers that may have a clinical utility for detection, monitoring disease progression, and predicting treatment outcomes. Dr. Gomez is also interested in cancer health disparities, in particular applying translational research to address biological differences among ethnic groups, including Hispanics and Native Americans and non-Hispanic withes. Finally, Dr. Gomez is interested in the pharmacogenomics of cancer, in particular pharmacological differences to treatment that make some patients unresponsive to standard treatment.
