Researchers & Staff FAQ
The Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building (Keating) and the Biosciences Research Laboratories (BSRL) provide shared spaces, core facilities, and support services for researchers and staff.
Below are answers to frequently asked questions for those working in Keating or BSRL.
The first floor lobbies of the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building and Biosciences Research Laboratories are open from Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The BIO5 Institute front desk located in Keating Suite 102. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For building access to the Thomas W. Keating Building or Bioscience Research Laboratories (outside of the first floor lobbies), you must have biometric CatCard with a magnetic strip on the back with fingerprint enrollment.

The front desk is located in Suite 102, on the first floor of the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building.
Visitors without access must be escorted at all times by someone with building access. We recommend initially meeting in the lobby of either Keating or BSRL (accessible without a key card Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
Temporary badges are not available for visitors without approved access.

All keys are issued through the University of Arizona Facilities & Management Key Desk.
You must schedule an appointment in advance to pick up keys. You can pick up your keys at the Key Desk (1405 N Ring Rd, Tucson, AZ 85721). Bring a valid photo ID and ensure your key request has been approved before your appointment.
Most packages are delivered to the loading dock. You will be notified by the loading dock once your package arrives.
Small packages may be placed in your mailbox, if applicable.
Some packages may be marked as delivered when they reach Central Receiving, even though they have not yet arrived at BIO5.

Yes, we can create labels for FedEx Express packages shipped from BIO5. We cannot create labels for FedEx Ground or packages shipped from other locations.
Drop-off locations:
- Keating Suite 102 front desk – for FedEx Express packages
- Loading dock – for large or ground packages
To request a label:
- Email the BIO5 Front Desk (bio5-office@arizona.edu) for a digital form
- Visit the BIO5 Front Desk for a physical form
Submit tickets for BIO5 IT and Facilities Support.

BIO5 does not provide tablecloths for events. Please contact University of Arizona Facilities Management (FM) for table and tablecloth rentals.
The largest room is Keating 103 with a capacity of approximately 100 people. Visit the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch Building webpage for more information and room reservations.
You can also reserve rooms in the Bioscience Research Laboratories.
Bring any flyers or posters to the BIO5 front desk in Keating Suite 102. Once we review and approve them, we’ll hang them up for you.
Turn lost items in to the BIO5 front desk in Keating Suite 102. Found items are logged and held for pickup.
Yes, stop by the front desk in Keating Suite 102 and we can help direct you.
You can also use the University of Arizona interactive floor plans to search for rooms and their locations.
BIO5 members and Keating building residents may reserve BIO5 golf carts for university-related use for up to two hours. Students are not permitted to use golf carts. Training and documentation are required prior to reserving.
