Gina Compitello serves as director of communications, marketing, and public affairs at the BIO5 Institute, where she leads strategic communications, branding, public affairs, and community engagement efforts that elevate the institute’s impact across the university and beyond. 

With more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit and higher education communications, she brings a strong background in storytelling, rebranding, and audience development to support BIO5’s mission of interdisciplinary research and innovation. 

Prior to joining BIO5, Compitello served as vice president of marketing and communications for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, where she led efforts that expanded audiences, reimagined brand identity, and grew revenue. Her previous roles include communications leadership at Literacy Connects, the Center for Creative Photography, and the University of Arizona Museum of Art. Compitello is passionate about connecting people to science through compelling narratives that reflect the diversity, creativity, and curiosity of the BIO5 community.
