At the third annual Behind BIO5 event, more than 100 community members explored collaborative research and connected with scientists at the University of Arizona.
In early April, the doors of the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch building on the University of Arizona campus swung open for Behind BIO5, an annual event dedicated to pulling back the curtain on the fascinating interdisciplinary labs at the BIO5 Institute.
More than 110 Arizona community members experienced firsthand the convergent research, people and technologies that are shaping the future of science at the university. As BIO5 celebrates 25 years of collaborative research and discovery in 2026, this event highlighted how the institute continues to bring diverse scientific fields together to advance research and improve the health of Arizona and beyond.
Guests moved from station to station, exploring hands-on demonstrations of scientific innovations amongst 15 tables staffed by university researchers. Fireside chats featured examples of collaborative bioscience research, including the bioprinting of organoids, ALS research, and women’s health across the lifespan.
By connecting the public directly with scientists each year, Behind BIO5 gives community members a closer look at the research happening at the University of Arizona.
More than an event, Behind BIO5 invites the community to immerse themselves in science and innovation that can directly impact their lives. BIO5 is grateful to everyone who joined to explore the people, ideas and innovations that make the BIO5 Institute a hub of convergent bioscience research at the University of Arizona.
